"Until Davening Is Finished, the Kabbalas Ol Is Still There"

As I Heard Them, Vol. 1, p. 154, no. 28

Yerucham — the tomim, chozer, and oived — told us in Homil that he had spoken with the Rebbe regarding zman tefilah (the prescribed time for davening). (Yerucham, himself, davened at length.)

“Ay, there is another motivation there [in davening earlier ], ” the Rebbe told him. “They want to eat earlier. ”

“But when the Rebbe saw from my response, ” Yerucham told us, “that the issue was something else, he said, ‘We see clearly that until davening is completed, the kabbalas ol is still there. ’”

(In other words, the time of preparation before davening should be substantial.)

"I Won't Give Him Any Advice"

As I Heard Them, Vol. 1, pp. 313-314, no. 54

R. Yisroel, a son-in-law of Reb Aizel’s son (and also Reb Aizel’s nephew), was seriously ill and paralyzed. His wife struggled to support their family of small children through her dry goods store, but when it became too difficult she went to her zeide, Reb Aizel, and wept. “What do you want from me?” he asked. “He (the Eibershter) can do whatever He wants with me; I won’t give Him any advice. ”

After All the Kavanos, Kabbolas Ol

As I Heard Them, Vol. 1, pp. 386-387, no. 11

At tekias shofar on the second day of Rosh Hashanah, I remembered the time in Lubavitch when the Rebbe Rashab had already davened in the large zal. It was after the preparations, after the weeping - during the Haftorah and subsequent recitation of the pesukim - I saw first -hand how the Rebbe arranged his tallis and said the brachos.

At a chassidic farbrengen once, they reached the conclusion, namely: after all the kavanos - the meditations and intentions - one must do the mitzvah with kabbalas ol.

And when one visualizes this in the same matter and, it could be said, in the same place, then, Boruch Hashem, my zeide’s words resonate: “The crowns progress downward one from another. ”30

In general, my zeide was steadfast in the concept of “ Rebbe of the generation.”
